Church Book Club

Beginning in September through November, we will be reading Christianity for the Rest of Us by Diana Butler Bass.

We will meet in-person on the first and third Wednesday evening of each month. An online option will be offered. All meetings will be at GPC from 5:30-7pm.

Gathering around potluck-style finger-foods (aka bring a little something to share!) and the like, our conversation will be open-ended with some open discussion questions. Curious about the book in particular? Want to get out of the house? Interested in being part of this kind of gathering and community? All are welcome to join, whatever your reason!

The reading commitment is 2 chapters before each gathering, except for one gathering where it is 3 chapters.

     - September 3: Chapters 1 & 2

     - September 17: Chapters 3 & 4

     - October 1: Two chapters selected from Ch.5-14

     - October 15: Two chapters selected from Ch.5-14

     - November 5: Chapters 15, 16, & 17

     - November 19: Epilogue & Group Reflections

An Hour of Christian Protest

Alongside our siblings in faith from Rose City Park Presbyterian Church and Saint Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church, we spend an hour on the first Sunday of each month offering an hour of Christian protest —

Our faith asks that we love God and love our neighbor. In times when cruelty and concern for profit eclipses love for our neighbors, particularly our neighbors that are marginalized, oppressed, and most at risk for being tangibly and societally forgotten, what are we to do?

We as Christians and siblings in faith are choosing to stand up and speak up. Whether it is for our LGBTQ+ siblings, our neighbors that are immigrants, migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, produce workers and farmers, or people of other faiths, we gather with our signs of love and support at the corner of 44th & Sandy Blvd each month.

All are welcome to join in this protest of love.
